Our Mission is “With faith and confidence in God, to sustain community while embracing the challenges and changes of the future.” This mission inspires everything we do, from celebrating the Eucharist and nurturing faith through the sacraments to serving our neighbours with compassion and welcoming all who enter our doors.
Our Vision is to be a vibrant, Christ-centred parish where every person feels welcomed, valued, and inspired to grow as a disciple of Jesus. Together, we seek to strengthen our faith, foster meaningful relationships, and joyfully share God’s love within our parish and throughout the wider community.
Parish History
St. Aloysius Parish has been serving the Kitchener community since 1953. What began as a small faith community celebrating Mass in the chapel of St. Jerome’s College has grown into a vibrant parish family in the heart of Kitchener.
Founded by the Congregation of the Resurrection Fathers, the parish was later entrusted to the care of the Diocesan clergy before welcoming the Order of Discalced Carmelite Fathers in 2012. Throughout the decades, the dedication, generosity, and faith of countless parishioners have shaped St. Aloysius into the diverse community it is today.
As our parish has grown, so too has our commitment to worship, service, faith formation, and outreach. We remain grateful for those who laid the foundation before us and continue to build upon their legacy as we look to the future with faith and hope.
Today, St. Aloysius Parish is home to hundreds of families who gather to celebrate the Eucharist, receive the sacraments, serve one another, and live the Gospel together under the pastoral leadership of our clergy.
Our Patron Saint – St. Aloysius Gonzaga
St. Aloysius Gonzaga (1568–1591) was born into an Italian noble family but chose a very different path than the one planned for him. Although destined for wealth and privilege, he gave up his inheritance to follow God’s call and entered the Society of Jesus (Jesuits) at the age of seventeen.
Known for his deep faith, humility, and compassion, St. Aloysius devoted his life to prayer and serving others. During a devastating plague in Rome, he courageously cared for the sick and dying, eventually contracting the illness himself. He died on June 21, 1591, at just twenty-three years of age.
Canonized in 1726, St. Aloysius is the patron saint of youth and students. His life of selfless service, purity, and unwavering trust in God continues to inspire young people and all who seek to live the Gospel with courage and compassion.
