Divine Mercy Sunday takes place on the Second Sunday of Easter. In a series of revelations to St. Maria Faustina Kowalska in the 1930's, our Lord called for a special feast day to be celebrated on the Sunday after Easter. Jesus asked that the feast day be preceded by a Novena to the Divine Mercy which would begin on Good Friday. It is now known as Divine Mercy Sunday, named by Pope St. John Paul II at the canonization of St. Faustina in the year 2000.
Divine Mercy Sunday focuses on the gift of mercy and love given through Christ's death, burial and resurrection.
Did you know when we pray at the 3:00 hour, on Divine Mercy Sunday, completely in His Mercy, adoring and glorifying Him, mercy is opened wide for every soul? In this hour you can obtain everything for yourself and others for the asking (Diary, 1572). Why would we not take advantage of this?
