Join us for Mass Tues July 18 at 7pm in honour of the Feast of Our Lady of Mount Carmel (July 16 Feast Day), the Patroness of the Carmelite Order. The first Carmelites lived on Mount Carmel in Israel during the late 12th Century. Our Lady of Mount Carmel is the title given to the Blessed Virgin Mary for her role as patroness of the Carmelite Order. It is believed that St. Simon Stock, an early English Prior General of the Carmelite, had a vision of the Blessed Virgin Mary in which she gave him a brown scapular. This formed part of the Carmelite habit. In Stock's vision, Mary promised that those who died while wearing the scapular would be saved.
